Inferno Engulfs Local Restaurant

Residents of our fair city had their evening punctuated by the piercing wails of the Los Oscuro Fire Department's Engines 1 and 2 as they sped down the highway.  Captain Patricia Lowke of the LOFD stated that at 6pm this evening 911 was inundated with calls from locals concerning McPhee's Burgers being engulfed in flames.  Paramedics arrived on the scene and removed two survivors from the gutted building.

"Arson investigators are looking into the incident." Lowke said in her statement "Right now there isn't much we know."

Police Captain Karl Livingston stated that due to several calls referencing suspicious individuals seen in the area shortly before the blaze, they are also looking into the matter.  "We know that the ZAS (Zombie Alert System) did register zombie movement in that general area shortly before the incident.  At the moment, however, that is all we know.  Obviously, we will be updating the public as needed."

All this comes on the heel of Police Cheif Trevino coming under fire from the city council and the Humans United Foundation for perceived flimsy policy when dealing with possibly unregistered supernaturals in the city.  "We have no reason to believe that we have any unregistered monsters in our city." he told reporters in a press conference on Wednesday.  That statement, HUF spokesperson Gail Johnson told reporters after tonight's fire, seems to ask more questions than it answers.

"If we are to believe that we have no unregistered monsters in our midst, we can only conclude that those responsible for the deaths and damage tonight were registered.  HUF is only asking for City Hall to take a hard look at policy and determine if we don't need to excise all monsters."

This, of course, draws parallels to rhetoric that was spread in 1967 after the Supernatural Registration Act became enforced, where in many persons of the south disagreed with even the most stringent stipulations as to allowing supernatural beings into our city.
